Entry #3: A Life Saving Mint.
The wrapper makes that crinkly sound when I open a roll of LifeSavers. It’s louder than it should be, especially for something so small. I push one out and it drops into my hand. It’s smooth, kind of chalky, with that little hole in the middle that always makes it look like a doughnut.
I toss it in my mouth. At first, it’s not that strong, just a light mint taste. Then after a second, it starts to kick in more. Not overpowering, just enough to wake you up a little, and maybe a little spicy. I move it around with my tongue for a bit before biting it, and it cracks, almost painfully. After that, it breaks apart and starts dissolving pretty fast.
The flavor settles down into that clean, cool feeling, like you're breathing cold air. It’s not as sharp anymore, just smooth and fresh. Like your breath actually feels different, not just covered up. It kind of reminds me of grabbing one after eating something strong or right before talking to someone so you don’t have bad breath.
Then it’s gone. No big moment, it just fades out. I look at the roll again, still got a few left, and hear that same crinkly sound when I move it. It’s nothing special, but it does what it’s supposed to. And honestly, sometimes that’s all you need.
