Entry #1. Trailblazing and Having a Good Time

Hello everyone, my name is Ian Segura, and I wanted to share a little about my love for hiking. As the youngest of six kids, I've always had people to look up to, especially my older brother. As I grew up, I wanted to try things he enjoyed, one of which was hiking. At first, my goal was just trying to keep up and not embarrass myself. But over time, it turned into a way to relieve stress and became something I genuinely loved doing.

The more I went on hikes, the more I started to appreciate everything that came from them. I was always used to be stuck to my computer screen, so being outside, away from noise and social media, gave me time to actually think. Even when the trail got steep or my legs got really sore, there was something really satisfying about pushing through it. Plus, the views during the hike made it all worth it.

Hiking also taught me the good lesson of patience. There is no shortcut to the top. You just have to keep moving. This is something that I can also connect to other parts of my life. When things get difficult, whether it's school, a job, or just life in general, I remind myself that progress happens one step at a time.
I also really value the time I spend with my brother. Sometimes we talk the whole time, others we trek in silence. Either way, it's time that means a lot to me, and it reminds me of why I started hiking in the first place.

For me, hiking is more than just exercise and fresh air. It's way to relax and spend time with people I care about.

  1. As an avid hiker myself, I can relate to many of your points here. I enjoyed learning more about you and your hobby, Ian. You've got an organized post here and make a larger point about your hobby beyond just personal perspective.
